EcoGuardian VR game for Climate Change
EcoGuardian VR game for Climate Change
I led the UX design of EcoGuardian with Maryam Shah, a three part VR prototype for Meta Quest that uses immersive, consequence based gameplay to build environmental awareness and encourage sustainable behaviors. Arjun Thummar developed the experience in Unity, translating the UX design and gameplay concepts into an interactive VR environment.Â
Players move through environmental challenges where their actions directly affect the virtual world. They extinguish fires and water trees to restore the natural environment, answer environmental questions to save residents and bring life back to the community, and complete a beach cleanup challenge by sorting waste into the correct trash, compost, and recycling bins. Incorrect decisions allow darkness and environmental damage to spread, providing visible consequences for the player's choices.
The experience combines immersive learning, environmental problem solving, immediate feedback, and interactive storytelling, allowing players to see how individual decisions can contribute to either environmental recovery or decline.
